Completely sold out even though there was little advance publicity, the 2000 Brix Chill festival was held at the end of August in the grounds and gardens of a country house in deepest Cornwall. The weather was gorgeous and the venue was magical - beautiful gardens, a small beach with excellent surf and comfortable facilities. |

People began arriving early on the Friday, picking the best tent spots first. Most arrived on foot from the relatively local Legoton train station, and by late afternoon, the place was already buzzing with life.
Late arrivals passed an already sizeable crowd clustered around the excellent Harry's Brownies Organic World cafe. Whether this had more to do with their pumping sound system or the food is anyone's guess. |

In all the crowd was up for it and friendly, many catching up with old aquaintances from all over the country. The usual Brix regulars were very much in evidence, joined by a loose coalition of festival junkies, crusties and curious newcomers to our 'scene'.
Even before the main entertainment got underway, the site was filled with smaller systems, warming everyone up for 2 days of partying. The teepee gang in particular definitely started first and packed up last. |

During the day, we all took advantage of the sunny weather to top up our yellowing tans on the beach.
The big waves made surfing a spectator as much as an active sport, but the heat and sun forced everyone into the sea sooner or later. |

Of course, the refreshments on the beachfront and the bouncing tunes coming from our Megaplastic guests certainly helped fuel the fun.
Admittedly one or two people did overdo the sunbathing, and had to be cooled down by our medical team, but there were no serious casualties, and the medics said even they got to chill for most of the time - those guys work too hard! |

Even excluding the main stage, there was a lot on offer. Many thanks to all those who helped keep our bicycle and solar powered cinema and second stage going, both of which seemed very popular.
Big names were as much in evidence here as elsewhere, with the excellent Brix resident crew: dark angel, barticle, grommet and barefoot playing until late in the night. |

And let's not forget the gardens and our Art Scamper. Our decor crew teamed up with a number of artists to take the already beautiful infrastructure into a whole new dimension.
As night fell, the place lit up, from the fountain to the smallest tree and in darker corners various installations lurked. Most agreed that the giant Angel was the most spectacular, seeming to hover over the whole site from its vantage point on the cliffs. |

And many giggles emanated from the video and sound booth. We could tell you what it played, but we've been sworn to secrecy. All in all, a lovely weekend. |
